Pre-Deployment Briefing Blues....Last night after a two hour meeting, I know now that instead of May (when my husband was slated to go to Afghanistan) he'll now be leaving a week after he returns from a 31 day field op. His pre-deployment leave is his time off for Christmas. I almost expected it because of the way things are going on the news and with Obama etc...but it was still hard hearing it. Especially because my husband's Battallion Commander has NO bedside manner and must've said the words "killed in action" about 300 times. They just kept stressing that Afghanistan is different and I believe it, but my husband keeps telling me, "before we deployed last year they changed our date at least 5 times" but I have a gut feeling that this is so much different and he'll be leaving so soon. All I can do is spend every moment I have with him now and make the best of it. Phew, okay it was nice to get some of that off my chest. only two weeks left...Adam got picked to be one of the dog handlers in his unit, and has been in Virginia since October 18th. Right now being a fairly new resident of JVille without a job etc, the time has been dragging. I even went to Georgia for a week to visit my family, and I've still got two weeks! I know two weeks isn't much at all, especially to women who's men are on a deployment, so I should thank God that he's somewhere safe while he's away from me (and that I get to talk to him everyday). Thankfully I get my books delivered for my online class today so I can start on all that. And of course, thank God for my new friend, Cait, in my apartment complex who lets me borrow amazing books that send me off to another place and I tend to forget all about everything else. I am such a bookworm, it's crazy! We're going to visit my family in Georgia for Thanksgiving as well since we're not going to be able to make it home to Maine. I'm blessed that I have family so close by so that we don't have to spend Thanksgiving alone. Not that I would mind, but I think holidays should always be spent with lots of family. I have a bunch of laundry to do today though and maybe I'll bake some banana bread to give to my neighbors. I forgot I had a bunch of bananas here when I went to Georgia (oops!) and they're overripe. Well, that's about it. I'm going to go hop in the shower and then drop by the dollar store to pick some things up, and then I'll start on my huuuge pile of towels that need to be washed. God Bless! Stacielynn new lifethings have finally settled down, and we've gotten internet at our apartment so I'm back! September 5th Adam & I got married and since then it's been a bit of a whirlwind, packing up the car and driving 16 hours to North Carolina. But we got here in one piece (as did all our stuff). Our apartment is looking homey, especially with it's furry addition of a miniature long-haired dachshund named SOOKIE. A lot of Adam's marine buddies have been over for dinner since I'm such a great cook (but anything is better than CHOW HALL food right?). It's really boring while he's at work but I walk the dog and cook lots of great stuff. And now that I have the internet again I can start looking for a job as well.
We got some GREAT news a couple days ago...Adam got picked to be the dog handler for his unit! He starts his training later this month. It's really exciting because dogs are his favorite thing in the whole world (besides me, of course) and it opens a lot of doors for when he's out of the corps as well. So that's really exciting! Back to playing with the puppy now =)
xoxo Stacielynn woo hoo! something else wedding related taken care of =)yep, the woman who's doing my dress alterations for me has to shorten it by 5 inches, lol. i'm a little midget. no seriously, i have a 3.75 ring finger. but i'm excited! she's gonna try and crank it out before she goes up to camp the beginning of august. so I have another appointment next thursday to make sure its just the right length and then another couple days and I can pick it up. I was so stoked when I put it on (first time since I bought it) and it isn't tight on the waist anymore. I must've lost a couple pounds, woo hoo! It's always nice too when you're not even trying to. Adam bought me something for our wedding night as a surprise and I got it in the mail yesterday...and could that boy have bought something MORE X-RATED? Sheesh! Oh well. Now I'm just bummin' around (it's raining like CRAZY outside) until I have to go to the doctors at 2:15. Then I have to work 5-9 and then SIGH OF RELIEF I have Saturday off. hooray! -stacie phewwwww!I can't believe I'm really moving in a little over a month! Adam sent me an email from the realtor of places to look at and it made things SO REAL. My mom and dad are starting to get really sad about it, and it's making things harder. I'm going from being a country girl with lots of animals and wide open spaces to JACKSONVILLE probably living in an apartment with no grass around or something. I know I'll get used to it and I'll be happy to see Adam every day but it's daunting. One thing I WILL NOT MISS is my shit-tastic job and the aholes I work with, one in particular. I cannot WAIT to tell my boss tomorrow That September 1st will be my last day. I'm going to burn my damn uniform! All I can say is that I hope Adam's brother gets stationed at Lejeune once he gets out of 29 Palms so that Sabrina moves down with him and we have our own little happy North Carolina family. xoxo stacie
